ToyStore

(DWCC Toy Store will be December 12th, 2009)

Dumas Wesley Community Center invites you to join us in a unique ministry to the precious children served by this Center.  Every year in December we hold our annual “Christmas Toy Store” for families in our Crichton community.

All the toys are priced at a fraction of their actual retail value, and displayed in a Toy Store which is set up by volunteers in the Center's auditorium.  Up to seventy-five low-income families residing in the inner-city Crichton neighborhood, families from the Sybil H. Smith Family Village and women from local homeless shelters will be invited to shop at our Toy Store.   Proceeds from the sale of the toys are then used to provide funds for emergency needs and services to the senior citizens of the community.

We are often asked why we just do not give the toys to the children.   However, by providing the parents an opportunity to pay for the toys they are able to maintain their self-respect as they provide for their families.  And quite often, the person buying the toys is a grandparent or even a great-grandparent who has custody of the children, are on a fixed income and sometimes are the recipients who receive our services.

If you would like to donate to this cause we accept all types of toys, with the exception of toy guns and weapons.  Toys should be new and unwrapped, with the price sticker left intact.    Please contact Steve Robinson at 251-479-0649 for more information.
