The mission of the Dumas Wesley Community Center (DWCC) is to educate, empower, and enrich vulnerable individuals and families through interconnected programs that address immediate needs while fostering self-sufficiency and generational stability.

Founded in 1903 by Methodist women in the Mobile area, the Dumas Wesley Community Center has been serving the community for over a century. Dumas Wesley was originally tasked with providing childcare to the disadvantaged families working in the cotton mills of Crichton, Alabama. Today, the Center offers over a dozen programs and services for the working poor and the homeless in the Mobile and Baldwin communities.

DWCC is a neighborhood based non-profit organization located in the Crichton community. The majority of households in Crichton are headed by single mothers with an average annual family income of less than $25,000. 99% of the clients served directly by DWCC are low-income and approximately 95% are minority.

In 2025, the Dumas Wesley Community Center deployed 77,129 direct services to our neighbors in need.
