Senior Programs

COVID-19 Update: In accordance with our policies, and in the interest of our participants’ safety, the Senior Activities for Independent Living Program is currently offering remote programming. Dumas Wesley Community Center is operating under the guidance of the Mobile County Health Department; requirements may change in accordance with MCHD recommendations.

The Dumas Wesley Senior Activities for Independent Living (S.A.I.L.) program provides daily activities for seniors 60 and older Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The program serves an average of 75 seniors daily. A hot, nutritious meal is served to seniors at the center and meals are transported to an additional 44 homebound seniors in the Crichton and Toulminville area. Participants may join in a variety of activities including: games, nutrition education, guest speakers, health checks, exercise and computer classes. Transportation is provided for SAIL participants to vital services such as the bank and pharmacy, local shopping and health and wellness events. Participants living in Crichton and Toulminville are also provided with transportation to and from the Center.

Meals: Hot meals are delivered to 75 pre-registered homebound seniors five days a week.

Wellness Checks: Dumas Wesley conducts wellness checks and provides weekly at-home activities for registered participants
